Whitewater Rafting
Whitewater rafting and kayaking are popular pastimes in Western North Carolina. There are an abundance of rivers close to Wolf Laurel which offer everything from easy-going float trips for the less adventurous to class IV and V rapids for more experienced and daring adventurers.

The French Broad River is one of the more well known whitewater rivers in the area and is the world’s third oldest, flowing through the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains of Western North Carolina. The French Broad is ideal for families and young teens, offering moderate class II and III rapids. There are a number of outfitters that offer guided rafting and kayaking trips down the French Broad River. Rafting trips are popular, but more adventurous whitewater enthusiasts might be interested in kayaking.

The Green River is another popular whitewater destination in NC. The Lower Green is great for beginners, offering class I and II rapids, and is the second most traveled stretch of river in the state. The Upper Green is a little more challenging, with class II and III rapids for intermediate paddlers. The Green River gets the most attention for the infamous Narrows, a class V stretch that draws paddlers from all over the world to challenge its dangerous slides and big drops. The Green River definitely offers something for every level of whitewater adventurer.

There are many other rivers in the area that are popular spots for rafting, canoeing, kayaking, and even tubing such as the Nolichucky, Nantahala, Watauga, and New River. Below are a few of the local outfitters and guides that offer a variety of trips down the various rivers. Feel free to give them a call for more information.
